FRUIT TREE PLANTING INITIATIVE AT KUZA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL- MALAA KENYA

On March 28, 2025, Azaavi Foods, in collaboration with Miamu Properties, launched the School Fruit Tree Growing Project at Kuza International School in Malaa, Ruai. Operating under the theme “Plant a Fruit Tree Today, Grow Hope”, the initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability, improve nutrition, and empower students through climate education. The project targets three schools, reaching over 1,000 students throughout 2025.

At the launch event, attended by over 100 partcipants including stakeholders from academia, corporates, government, and the local community, 150 fruit trees were planted. A water purification system was also commissioned to be installed to address the area’s unsafe saline water. The school, only six years old with 40 pupils and no boundary walls, benefitted significantly from this intervention.

Key highlights included the inauguration of a Young Climate Ambassador, election of Green Champions per class, and the school management’s commitment to sustaining the initiative. The project seeks to curb malnutrition, reduce assault risks, and reduce school dropouts by ensuring fruit availability within school grounds.

With support from sponsors like Absa Bank, the project demonstrates how strategic partnerships can foster long-term environmental and social impact while enhancing brand visibility and community engagement.

Monitoring and Evaluation

It was agreed that monitoring will be done every 3 Months for one Year to ensure that the tree grow as planned and any challenge will be address as it arises.
